Top Scots playwright Peter Arnott and up-and-coming Green activist Zara Kitson joined our regular host Derek Bateman.
SNP member Peter revealed that he plans to vote for Zara, as his second “list” choice in Glasgow, this coming May. So he may play a part in securing the election of both SNP and Green MSPs at Holyrood.
This minor revelation gives Zara the chance to make her and her party’s case for a strong Green presence in the Scottish Parliament, and prompted a fascinating discussion about how the “Yes” vote might be distributed amidst intense debate about whether the SNP case for “both votes” will prevail, or whether people may vote for smaller parties on the list vote.
The podcast covers recent opinion polling, the prospects for Labour as it fights the Tories for second place, and the merits of the “penny tax” debate prompted by Kezia Dugdale’s proposed increase aimed at covering cuts in local authority income.
Also discussed is the rise of the Tory party in Scottish opinion polls, whether it is “real”, and what it might mean for Holyrood politics.
