Leading Scottish academic Mike Danson claims that Scottish universities are losing ground in the battle for research funding, as rivals in London and the south-east swallow up funds at the expense of the rest of the UK.
Professor Danson, an economics expert at Heriod Watt University and a leading member of Academics for Yes during last year’s referendum, is concerned that the lion’s share of new funding is going to universities in the so-called “golden triangle” between Oxford, Cambridge and London.
